Cosmic Astrology, (Brahmanda Purusha – Cosmic Being), was created by Swami SriYukteswar Giri, a great saint of India, well known as the Master of Paramahamsa Yogananda, who is the author of the enormously successful book in the spiritual world, “Autobiography of a Yogi.”
Cosmic Astrology encompasses the essence of Vedic Astrology and Western Astrology, reducing everything to the simplest. It is very simple and perhaps that is why it is difficult to understand.
Cosmic Astrology was mainly created for those who practice meditation and, in particular, for those who practice Kriya Yoga, meditation and breathing techniques. Those who practice Kriya Yoga are able to better understand the inner world and to successfully use the knowledge of the inner light, Jyotish.
Cosmic Astrology can also be used to help seekers of the Divine prepare themselves and convert misdirected energies.
There are no books or other study materials to learn Cosmic Astrology.
This discipline is transmitted only from master to disciple.
In conclusion, it can be said that Cosmic Astrology is the spiritual science intended to guide those who are prepared towards direct knowledge of God.
“Life is uncertain and unstable like a drop of water on a lotus leaf. The company of a divine being, even for a moment, can help us cross the ocean of this world.”
Adi Shankara

Swami Sri Yukteswar, a perfect example of the ancient enlightened sages of India, is revered as Jnanavatar, the incarnation of wisdom, by those throughout the world who have felt inspired by his life and teachings.
He demonstrated that he had attained absolute self-control and the realization of the Divine, the highest goal of all seekers of truth, who have succeeded each other throughout the centuries.”
“It was surprising to see how a Master endowed with an indomitable will could be so calm inwardly. He answered the Vedic definition of the man of God: “More delicate than a flower in expressing love, stronger than thunder in defending principles.”
I often thought that my august Master could have been an emperor or a mythical warrior, if fame or earthly interests had been his objective.
But he, on the contrary, chose to storm the inner citadel of hatred and selfishness, the demolition of which means the ascension of man.”
“The astral system of a human being, with 6 (12 because of polarity) inner constellations revolving around the Omniscient Sun of the spiritual eye, is in relation to the physical Sun and the 12 signs of the zodiac.
All human beings thus bear the influence of an inner universe and an outer universe.
The scriptures say that it takes a million years of normal, disease-free evolution for man to perfect his somatic brain in the way of expressing Cosmic Consciousness.
The unevolved man very rarely, if ever, realizes that his body is a kingdom governed by the Soul, the Emperor seated on the throne of the skull, who has regents in the six spinal centers or spheres of consciousness (chakra).
This kingdom extends over a multitude of very obedient subjects: 27,000,000,000,000. (twenty-seven billion) cells armed with a certain, though apparently automatic, intelligence by which they do their duty for the development, transformation and dissolution of the body, and 50,000,000 (fifty million) basic thoughts, emotions and variations of phases which alternate in the human consciousness in an average life of 60 years.
Every apparent insurrection of the physical or mental cells against the Emperor Soul, in the form of disease or depression, is not due to the disloyalty of humble citizens, but to the improper use, past or present, which man makes of his own individuality, or of the free will, which was given him simultaneously with the Soul and which will never be revoked.
Identifying himself with a superficial ego, man believes confidently that it is he who thinks, wills, feels, digests food and preserves life; he never thinks (a little would be enough) that in daily life by day he is but a puppet manipulated by his past actions (Karma), by nature and by the environment.
In every man, the intellectual reactions, feelings, states of mind and habits are the corollary (effect) of past causes, which must be sought either in the present life or in previous ones.”
“Charlatans have discredited the ancient science of the stars. Astrology is too vast to be learned by all and can only be understood by people with deep understanding.
That the ignorant (ignorant) read the stars badly and make scribbles instead of writings, this is normal and predictable in this imperfect world. We must not throw wisdom away along with these “wise” ones.
All parts of Creation are united with each other and influence each other. The balanced rhythm of the universe is rooted in reciprocity, continues my Master.
Man in his human aspect, must struggle with two different forces: one with the tumult within him, caused by the mixture of the elements: earth, water, fire, air and ether; two with the external disintegrating forces of nature.
Until man struggles with his mortal nature, he remains under the influence of the countless changes of heaven and earth.
Astrology is the study of man’s reaction to planetary stimuli. The stars are neither consciously good nor evil; they only emit positive or negative radiations. These in themselves neither harm nor help humanity, but are merely the external means by which the karmic law of cause and effect, which each man has set in motion in the past, can explain its balancing action.
A child is born at the hour when the celestial rays are in mathematical harmony with his individual karma. His horoscope is an accusatory picture showing his unalterable past and his probable future results. But this certificate can be interpreted accurately only by men endowed with intuitive wisdom; and these are few.
The message which the heavens ardently proclaim at the moment of birth must not be understood in the sense of giving a strictly determining importance to the fact, that is, to the result of good or evil done in the past, but on the contrary, must awaken the will of man to escape from astral influence.
What he has done, he himself can undo.
No one but the person in question created these causes which determine the dominant effects of his present life. He can overcome any limitation, because he himself created it with his acts, and because he is in possession of spiritual resources which are outside planetary pressures.
The wise man conquers his own planets – that is, his own past – by entrusting himself instead of Creation to the Creator. Why he is more convinced of his unity with the Spirit, he will be less dominated by matter.
The soul is eternal, has no end because it has no beginning. It cannot be subjugated by the stars.
Man IS a SOUL and has a body.
When he has found his true identity, man leaves behind all conditioning.
As long as he remains in the confused state of spiritual amnesia that is his habit, he will remain chained by the law that surrounds him.
Paramahansa Yogananda – Autobiography of a Yogi
“The Kriya Yogi mentally directs his own vital energy, rotating it up and down, around the six chakras, which correspond to the 12 zodiac signs, the symbolic Cosmic Man. Half a minute of the revolution movement of the energy around the spine of man determines subtle progress in his evolution; that half a minute of Kriya is equivalent to a year of natural spiritual evolution.”
